Journal History

Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pengajaran Guru Sekolah Dasar (JPPGuseda) was established in 2018 by the Primary Teacher Education Study Program (Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar / PGSD), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Pakuan.

The journal was founded to serve as an authoritative, peer-reviewed platform for researchers, educators, and scholars across Indonesia and internationally, advancing pedagogic scholarship, teacher education, and primary school instructional development.

The systematic milestones, technical transitions, and editorial evolutions of JPPGuseda are recorded below:

1. Establishment and Legal Foundation (2018)

JPPGuseda published its inaugural issue, Volume 1, Number 1, in 2018. In September 2018, the journal was formally granted National Standard Serial Numbers by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI, now BRIN):

  • Print ISSN (p-ISSN): 2623-0941 (Decree No. 0005.26230941/JI.3.1/SK.ISSN/2018.09, issued September 13, 2018).

  • Electronic ISSN (e-ISSN): 2623-0232 (Decree No. 0005.26230232/JI.3.1/SK.ISSN/2018.09, issued September 19, 2018).

2. Publication Frequency Trajectory

To accommodate the growing influx of high-quality submissions and broaden scientific dissemination, the editorial board adjusted publication frequency as follows:

  • Volume 1 (2018): Published as an annual issue (1 issue per year).

  • Volumes 2 – 3 (2019 – 2020): Transitioned to a bi-annual publication schedule (2 issues per year).

  • Volume 4 – Present (2021 – Ongoing): Increased to a tri-annual schedule (3 issues per year) to ensure timely peer review and expedited dissemination of accepted articles.

3. National Accreditation Record (SINTA)

JPPGuseda has been formally accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendikbudristek):

  • SINTA 4: Accredited at Rank 4 via Ministerial Decree No. 148/M/KPT/2020, valid from Volume 4 Number 1 (2021) through Volume 7 Number 2 (2024).

  • SINTA 3: Elevated to Rank 3 via Ministerial Decree No. 225/E/KPT/2022, spanning from Volume 5 Number 2 (2021) through Volume 10 Number 1 (2027).

4. Digital Platform Modernization and OJS Migration

  • OJS 2 Platform (2018 – 2025): From Volume 1 through Volume 8, Number 2, the journal was managed and hosted on Open Journal Systems (OJS) Version 2 at https://journal.unpak.ac.id/index.php/jppguseda

  • OJS 3 Migration (2025 – Present): Beginning with Volume 8, Number 3, JPPGuseda upgraded to an independent Open Journal Systems (OJS) Version 3 installation at https://jppguseda-fkip.unpak.ac.id/index.php/jppguseda. This upgrade modernized metadata harvesting, implemented mobile-responsive user interfaces, and streamlined editorial workflows.

5. Language Policy Evolution

To progressively expand its readership and global scholastic impact:

  • Volumes 1 – 4 (2018 – 2021): The journal operated under a bilingual policy, accepting manuscripts written in either standard Bahasa Indonesia or academic English.

  • Volume 5 – Present (2022 – Ongoing): The journal transitioned to an exclusively English publication mandate. All submitted manuscripts, abstracts, and published articles must be prepared in formal Academic English.

6. Evolution of Manuscript Templates and Citation Standards

To ensure continuous enhancement of layout quality, bibliographic accuracy, and research integrity, JPPGuseda has implemented three major template evolutions alongside specific structural amendments:

  • Template Version 1 (Volume 1, Issue 1, 2018 – Volume 6, Issue 3, 2023):

    • Utilized a two-column page layout.

    • Employed a numbered, bracketed citation style following Chicago/IEEE formatting guidelines.

    • Standard headings and layout primarily accommodating early bilingual formats.

  • Template Version 2 (Volume 7, Issue 1, 2024 – Volume 8, Issue 2, 2025):

    • Transitioned from the two-column format to a clean, modern single-column layout.

    • Shifted reference formatting from the numbered system to the American Psychological Association (APA) style.

    • Integrated standardized metadata headers and digital publication info blocks.

  • Template Version 3 (Volume 8, Issue 3, 2025 – Present):

    • Standardized citation and reference mechanics strictly to APA 7th Edition, requiring reference management tools (Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote).

    • Refined heading hierarchies, mathematical equation alignments, and open-border scientific table formats.

    • Minor Revision & Integrity Expansion (Starting Volume 9, Issue 2): Incorporated mandatory research integrity declarations directly above the reference list to align with COPE and international indexing standards:

      • Author Contributions using the formal CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy).

      • Funding Disclosures.

      • Declaration of Competing Interest.

      • Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) transparency statement.

      • Data Availability Statement.
