Manuscript Withdrawal Policy

Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pengajaran Guru Sekolah Dasar (JPPGuseda) understands that authors may occasionally need to withdraw their submitted manuscripts due to unforeseen circumstances. However, because the editorial and peer-review processes require significant investments of time and resources from editors and volunteer reviewers, we have established the following policy to manage withdrawal requests professionally and ethically.

1. Author's Request for Withdrawal

If the authors wish to withdraw a manuscript currently under consideration, the Corresponding Author must submit a formal, written request to the editorial office at [email protected]. The request must represent the unanimous agreement of all co-authors and clearly state the reason for the withdrawal.

2. Acceptable Reasons for Withdrawal

Valid and acceptable reasons for manuscript withdrawal include:

  • The discovery of significant errors, flawed data, or methodological inaccuracies that invalidate the findings and cannot be corrected through standard revisions.

  • Unresolved authorship disputes or newly discovered conflicts of interest.

  • Other unforeseeable ethical concerns that compromise the integrity of the research.

Important Note: Authors wishing to submit their manuscript to another journal must first officially withdraw it from JPPGuseda. Submitting to another journal before receiving formal withdrawal confirmation constitutes simultaneous/multiple submission, which is a severe violation of publication ethics.

3. Unethical Withdrawals and Late-Stage Sanctions

JPPGuseda strongly discourages "unethical withdrawals," which include withdrawing a manuscript after the reviewers have evaluated it, merely because the authors refuse to address the required revisions, or withdrawing it during the final production phase to publish it elsewhere.

  • Timely Requests: Authors are strongly encouraged to withdraw manuscripts before they are sent out for peer review (typically within the first 2 weeks of submission) to avoid any penalties.

  • Withdrawal Penalty Fee: If a manuscript is withdrawn after the peer-review process has commenced or during the advanced production stages, the authors will be charged a Withdrawal Penalty Fee of IDR 500,000. This fee is strictly implemented to compensate for the editorial time, peer-reviewer efforts, and administrative resources already expended on the manuscript. The manuscript will not be officially withdrawn until this penalty is settled.

4. Editorial Decision and Confirmation

A manuscript is not officially withdrawn simply by sending a request. The editorial office will carefully evaluate the validity of the withdrawal request. The withdrawal process is only complete when the Corresponding Author receives a Formal Withdrawal Confirmation Letter from the Editor-in-Chief. Until this confirmation is issued, the manuscript remains under the active consideration of JPPGuseda.

5. Ethical Investigations

If a withdrawal request is submitted to preempt an ongoing investigation into suspected academic misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate submission discovered by the reviewers), the journal will not simply dismiss the case. JPPGuseda reserves the right to proceed with the investigation and may notify the authors' affiliated institutions or funding bodies in accordance with COPE guidelines.

6. Resubmission Following Withdrawal

If authors successfully withdraw a manuscript to correct significant flaws and wish to resubmit the heavily revised version to JPPGuseda at a later date, they must inform the editorial team of its previous withdrawal history in their cover letter. The resubmission will be treated as an entirely new manuscript and will undergo a fresh round of initial screening and peer review.
